    Hi there,
Am having trouble upgrading from 2.2 to 2.5.2
I have followed the install instructions. I manage 5 Expression Engine installs and have done upgrades before…

    I get the following message.

The page you requested was not found.

Have tried with a fresh download from the downloads area.

    Any ideas.
    Cheers,
    Edd

Are you trying to run the update wizard? Did you upload the system/installer directory to your server? Are you getting the 404 on the admin or front end?

Yep am trying to run an upgrade. Uploaded the new system directory which includes the installer directory. 404 is on the front end when I point my browser to the admin.php file.

If you’re getting a 404 for your admin.php (and not an ExpressionEngine error), I’d first recommend talking with your web host. They’ll be able to look at your file structure and more quickly diagnose the problem. I suspect you might just have a file out of place.

Hi there, not sure I have explained things well here. The error is an Expression Engine one not a 404.
The message “The page you requested was not found.” changes to “Your system folder path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open the following file and correct this: admin.php” if I deliberately change the file path to the system folder to an incorrect file path…

    Does this help?

    Cheers,
    Edd

Is this on a server we can access, EWDC? Be on the lookout for an email from me.

This was an odd one- but changing up the uri protocal in the config got the wizard displaying properly.  That or just going directly to the wizard rather than relying on the default (admin.php?C=wizard&M=optionselect&language=english).

    $config['uri_protocol'] = 'QUERY_STRING';

    vs. the default AUTO

Note- this may require query strings be turned on for the frontend to work properly- see http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/general/urls.html#query-strings.

And if it’s still giving you any trouble, just let us know.
