Error Meassage when I was trying to write PHP in template

I’m trying to connect to another database from EE so, I have to write php code in template .. but there is this error message

(Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/sudotnet/public_html/site/system/expressionengine/libraries/Functions.php(680) : eval()‘d code on line 67}

Can you help me please?
