Automatic file syncing problem?

    Hi all. Not sure if this is a problem but here goes:

    I followed Ryan Irelan’s excellent tutorial on creating News items with images and managed to set it up so EE automatically generates a thumbnail for the News listing page. No problems there. The thumb gets created and put into the appropriate folder/directory. All good.

    My problem is that when I create a new News item and upload an image, the thumb gets generated by EE and placed in the correct directory, but the File Manager doesn’t seem to sync it automatically.

    Should it sync automatically? I’m just assuming that because EE generated the thumb it should automatically sync the directory, maybe I’m wrong. Any tips?

    Using EE 2.4

    Hi Fluid_Ink,

    Thanks for posting on the forums!

    Have you set up an entirely new image manipulation, or are you using ExpressionEngine automatic thumbnail generation?

    Either way, those won’t be available in the File Manager. Now, you can use them in your templates, but the “how” is not necessarily clear. Place the image in your channel entry like you would normally.

    Then, in your template where you are calling the entry, that’s where you call the thumb/image manipulation:

    {field_name:manipulation_name}

    Cheers,

    Thanks Dan. I was away for two weeks and missed you reply. In answer to your question I am using EE’s automatic thumbnail generation. I’ll investigate your suggestions and see how I get on.

    Cheers.
