Existing entries lose auto formatting when switched to use the RTE

Hello, I recently updated a site to 2.5 in hopes of using the new RTE. However, I encountered problems with existing entries, and located this thread http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/216990/ which seemed to detail the issue I experienced accurately—updating the field type to use RTE results entries using that field to lose all paragraph formatting. But I wasn’t able to find any resolution.

The site’s existing entries use XHTML as the Default Text Formatting, so they don’t currently contain any markup. I assume that when switching to the RTE it bases its styling on markup contained in the entry, so not seeing any from the XHTML parser results in lost paragraph formatting—is this correct? If so, is there a workaround or solution available?

    Thanks!

    Hello eedevee,

There were a lot of fixes to 2.5 in 2.5.2. Would you mind upgrading before we move forward with this case?

    Thank you,

Yes, I have the most current version installed (2.5.2) and is the version where I experience this issue.

    Hi eedevee,

Great. Just wanted to make sure.

You are right, as the thread you called out mentions, there is a loss if paragraph formatting.

There is no work around unfortunately. We saw this quite a bit back when we released the RTE. I am sorry you have run into this. :-(

Is there anything else I can help with?

    Thank you,
