    Title says problem.

I’ve seen this and followed it to no avail.

    This is a MAMP install.

Have installed a FRESH copy of 1.7.2 on a FRESH MySQL DB, restored the MySQL DB I need up there and have got everything working just great in 1.7.2.

Then, following the upgrade instructions, I move to upgrade to 2.5.2 and receive this error:

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1054

    Unknown column 'site_weblog_preferences' in 'exp_sites'

ALTER TABLE `exp_sites` CHANGE `site_weblog_preferences` `site_channel_preferences` TEXT NOT NULL

    Filename: updates/ud_200.php

    Line Number: 1700

I’ve tried this process 3 separate times before posting here ... at my wits end.

Is there a way to edit the referenced error directly through phpMyAdmin?

    Not sure what to do.

    Hi Mark,

I hate to see that you’ve run into these issues. When you wipe your database and restore the EE 1.x backup, do you see a column named “site_weblog_preferences” in your exp_sites table? When you come upon this error, can you look in the same place and see if that column is still there or if it’s now named “site_channel_preferences”? The answers to these questions will help me determine where in the process the update is getting messed up.

Here are screen shots of 1.x and 2.x.

I can confirm that ‘site_weblog_preferences’ exists in the 1.x DB and that ‘site_channel_preferences’ exists in the 2.x DB at the point the error occurs.

Hmm… could we get access to this directly, Mark? Be on the lookout for an email from me.

This is a local MAMP install on my MAC ... I have to confess that I’m not sure how I’d give you access to that.

Kevin ... in trying to figure out how to give you access, I tried a few things ... like logging in to my MAMP install from my iPad ... and stumbled upon trying to install this again (5th time) ... and IT WORKED!

Not sure why ... which is bothersome.

However, that being said, I’ve noticed that when I go to create a new field or edit an existing one, under FIELD SETTINGS I no longer have the dynamic FIELD OPTIONS dialog that shows up with the options ‘per field’.

Can you help me fix that???

Well it’s good to hear you were able to get the upgrade to push through! Though it sounds like it might not be such a clean upgrade…

Could you take a screenshot of the “Create a New Channel Field” screen?

You’ll note I’ve chosen the ‘File Field’ for this screenshot ... it’s missing the dynamic FIELD OPTIONS at the bottom (there should be 2 additional fields).

This same problem exists for each my fieldtypes ... Matrix, Wygwam, Channel Images, Checkbox ... ALL of them.

Kevin ... I did a fresh install ... FIELD OPTIONS seems okay now.  Likely was something to do with the themes??

I’m honestly not sure what caused that. The first two places I’d look would be themes and the database to see if something was missed in the upgrade. Are you all set now or was the fresh install just to see what it was supposed to look like?

I’m okay now as far as EE is concerned ... having some issues with Solspace’s Calendar Module though (which I know is not your domain).

Man, this was a tough one ... never had an upgrade as tough as this ... most have gone rather smoothly.

Thanks for the help ... you can close this one out now.

Sure thing, Mark. I’m sorry to see this one cause you such a struggle, but it’s good to see you’re on the other side of it. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.
