    Hi,

Am I right in thinking that installing EE on a Windows server is more likely to yield potential issues down the line?
client very keen to stick with about windows server, but there seem to be an awful lot of Windows server based issues?
Just want to see if this is a problem or not.
    Thanks

Every EE install that I’ve worked on that’s been on a Windows server has been problematical. Sometimes issues are relatively straightforward to iron out, such as file/folder permissions, but getting things like mod_rewrite working and getting rid of query strings seems to be a hurdle a lot of the time.

I think it boils down to 2 things:

    1. How much flexibility you have with the server, eg getting PHP set up the way you want for mod_rewrite etc
    2. A server admin who knows what they are doing!

    Hey w3studio,

    I agree with Rob.

I would say that while there are more problems around Windows, Linux is not without it’s own issues. If your client wants to use Windows, then that will work.

That being said, I love Linux. 😊 As an Advocate, I see less issues everyday with Linux vs. Windows.

    It’s your call!

    Cheers,
