We just launched a site for Maton Guitars Australia.

Maton is a family owned business which employs over 60 people and has been in business for since 1946. Artists all over the world have used Maton Instruments (such as Elvis, Keith Richards, George Harrison, Neil Finn and Tommy Emmanuel). All their instruments are handmade in their Melbourne, Australia factory.

The site was created by Story Interactive and employs a few choice add-ons including Low Re-Order, Dev Demons Channel Videos, CP Analytics and CE Image.

Also used was Zoo Flexible Admin which enabled Story Interactive to customise the client’s back-end experience and fine tune each content managers “view” of the backend.

The previous Maton website was managed by another popular CMS - the backend was unwieldy and cryptic and had caused Maton endless frustration.

Two weeks before site launch the client had set aside an entire day for training in the new EE sites backend. After 30 minutes of training the marketing manager laughed, stopped the meeting and took us all out to lunch.

I’ve just release Router, a regular expression routing system for ExpressionEngine:

It allows you to define any custom URL route you like, without needing to worry about template naming and without using large conditional checks.

Router will automatically include the correct template for you, based on which of your regex patterns match the current URL.

This will allow you to create the ultimate flexible URLs:
    - Include an extension such as .html at the end of article URLs

    - Include an unlimited number of categories in a URL

    - Have optional segments in the middle of URLs

    - Insulate your templates from the position of values within a URL - using names like {router_url_title} instead of {segment_5} in one case or some other segment in another case

    - Anything you can think of - Router will allow you to handle any URL structure you want!

    Sort of EE related…

A couple of years ago a did a free and gratis EE site for Stick it to MS - a charity event for Multiple Scerosis in the UK that aimed to break the world record for the most drummers drumming at the same time.

The event took place on 15th July 2012 with around 850 drummers and set the new world record. The promo site at http://www.stickittoms.com/ was run on EE and allowed the organisers to post event information, registration of participents and so on. Also behind the scenes data from EE helped the organisers collate participent data for mailouts and monitoring who was there on the day.

My blog post about the event - http://www.blue-dreamer.co.uk/blog/entry/stick-it-to-ms-2012

In case you missed them on Twitter, I published a couple of EE-related blog posts this week:

    ## EE Gotchas: Nested “no_results” Tags
A description of an annoying little Template parser bug, along with two simple fixes: one for general EE developers, the other for EE add-on developers.

    ## EE’s Bugs Are Not My Problem (Or Yours)
If you consider it reasonable to suggest the ExpressionEngine community should be responsible for fixing the myriad bugs in EE2, this post is for you.
