I am not sure what in the whole mess with the server going down etc fixed this or if it was my actions but after the hosts restore I reuploaded a fresh set of 2.5.2 files to make sure nothing was corrupted as there was several old directories that popped backup in the server after there restore so I wanted to be sure. I upgraded MSM to the latest version and now everything is working normally again. So I am not sure if it had to do with their hardware failure or if there was an issue with some of the files.
Anyways the important thing is everything is working normally again. Thanks.

I’m running into the same problem on 2.5.2. No MSM, AND I have a default status group set. Every time I save under this specific channel, the status disappears:
