I have defined a new membergroup called “Editors” and while in Admin-> Channel Admin -> Statuses, I had set Editors group to YES for both Open and Close, the only drop-down that appears is “Closed” when the editor is adding a new entry.
Using the latest version of EE2

Abbas, are you using Safecracker? It has status controls that could be overriding. Just a thought.

Hi Abbas,
In Admin->Channel Administration-> Channels: Edit Group Assignments for the channel in question Make sure that there is a status group explicitly assigned to the channel.
That should get you fixed up!
