If I change the username and password of mysql EE database, how to I set those changes in EE to connect to the database?  Is there a config file?  Do I need to generate an encrypted key for the PW?  Can I run an script like I did when I set up EE initially?  Thanks!

Inside system | expressionengine | config.

See the database.php file. Make your changes in there.

Thank you.  I had no idea that passwords were stored as readable text (actual password, as opposed to key) in the config file.

    Hi Brian,

I had no idea that passwords were stored as readable text (actual password, as opposed to key) in the config file.

Indeed, but the file should be inaccessible to most everyone. If you are really concerned about the prospect of this, you can move your /system above web-root.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
