    Just a quick question:

My client is getting spammed by fake registrations in his forum. We’ve had to switch to manual approval and I’ve added a more hard core captcha than the native version. Also added Askimet filter… But he’s still getting about 15 fake registration a day (!)

So I’m thinking of adding a question/response type thing as a last resort. I can’t find any plugin for 1.7.x so I’m thinking of coding a custom registration form with a plugin or from scratch, but first I want to to confirm:

There’s nothing special about the forum registration form in the Forum template right? If I build a regular registration form outside of the forum, members will still get the exact same access to forum as long as the registration assigns them to the same member group right?

It seems obvious but… I’m kinda compulsive about double checking things I guess.

    Thanks!

    Hey minimal design,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

You should be fine to create a SC form for registration.

Have you changed the profile trigger word?

Check through this guide if you have not already. Lots of good ideas here with links to both EE1 and EE2 options.

    Cheers,
