I need an Image Manager tool that allows images uploaded by a user to only be available to that original user when selecting and inserting into an entry.

I wanted to use the built-in File Manager to do this, but if one user uploads an image to the File Manager the same image is available to all other users in the system.

I’ll have hundreds of users in the system at some point.  I won’t be able to create a specific upload directory and manage the installation of each directory for each individual user.

    Any ideas?

    Hey jhu23,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

You are correct, you are unable to control file access via groups in ExpressionEngine. I am not aware of any Add-Ons that would accomplish this.

You could approach this from a system level.  You might be able to cook something up via a script on the server, but I would not recommend that. I am only slightly sure this would work. Creating a system user for each EE user so that you can control owners. The more I talk about this, the less I like this. You really need something at a higher level.

I wish I could be of more help.

If you would like, I can move this to the Community Help Forum. Might be some ideas floating around there.

    Cheers,

Thank you Shane.  It seems like it will be a bit complex.  I appreciate the response.
