I have a high-traffic website that is in need of upgrading from EE 2.2.2 to the latest 2.5.2 release, but i can’t risk it being down for any period of time.

I will backup my files and database before I commit to this upgrade but I wanted to get some further insight from the community before I took the plunge.

    Should I upgrade?
If so, is anyone who has upgraded experiencing any major issues with the latest release?

Also, are there any other steps I should take before upgrading ExpressionEngine?

    Gamer,

I would update all your third party add-ons first. Then make your backup and follow the standard update procedure. All should be fine.

    I upgraded a 2.1 to 2.5.2 yesterday without a hitch.

If it’s a major site it’s worth making a copy to a dev server, run the update, if all goes well you could either replce the live site with the updated dev version, or close the live site and run the update in situ.
