I’ve just installed the cookie consent mod on a client’s site, and it’s working great on the admin login page, but it doesn’t show up on the general membership login page (member/login) and it won’t allow members to log in without allowing cookies. Is there an extra step that needs to be taken to get that checkbox to show up on the member/login page?

Okay, did more poking around and stumbled across the Cookie Consent Mod User Guide, which I didn’t know existed, and found this: http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/cookie_consent/index.html#login-and-registration-forms. Plugged in the necessary consent checkbox on the login and registration pages, and I *should* be all set.

Okay, member login & registration cookie consent checkboxes are working as they should, but since I reinstalled the mod, the checkbox doesn’t show up on the admin login page. I was still able to log in, however (I’ve read some of the other threads on the matter where people have gotten locked out of the CP because the checkbox didn’t show up after reinstalling the plugin). I *should* be seeing that checkbox on the admin login page, right? What do I need to do to get it to show up?

    Hi Genevieve,

Thanks for slogging through to find an answer!

Have you double checked the settings in Cookie Consent Control Panel? You have an option to disable the checkbox on the CP login screen.

Look into that. If that’s all in order, I’ll help you suss out why it’s misbehaving.

    Cheers,

Alright, back to this issue. I just updated to 2.5.2, made sure the cookie consent mod was installed, checkbox placed on member login pages, mod settings all checked in the back end, and the mod seems to be not working *at all* now. The “allow cookies” checkbox on the admin login page has disappeared, and even when the mod is activated, you can log in without allowing cookies. So…help? 😊

    Hi Genevieve,

I’m going to get this straight to Robin for a hands on look. Be looking for an email from me.

    Hey, Dan,

Thanks so much. I’m actually headed out of town for the weekend, so I’m going to have to get back to you on that on Monday—hope that’s okay!

Just a quick note- I’ll take a closer look if needed.  But it sounds to me like- the checkbox on the admin login only shows if the cookie isn’t set.  Sounds like you’ve got cookies allowed- in which case it won’t show because it’s moot (and unchecking the box would not actually unset the cookie, so makes no sense to show it).

To see if that’s what’s happening, you could delete all cookies- or just the cookies_allowed cookie- and the checkbox should show back up.  And you won’t be allowed to login w/out checking it.

Like I say- happy to take a closer look, but I suspect that’s what’s happening.  That checkbox only shows for folks who haven’t allowed cookies.

And now I am off to add a link to the docs from the module download page- sorry about that!

Hi Genevieve, just checking that things are working ok for you.  Hadn’t heard back on our email, and figuring that’s probably because everything has been cleared up.  But wanted to check.
