I have twice contacted the author of the Italian Language Pack 1.0 for EE and have never received a response to my query if he was working on a version for 2.0 ... I assume he is not.

How are language packs developed? By contract with Ellis Labs?  As a voluntary activity?

Is there a English Package or some file to start from?

Lacking up-to-date language packs makes it difficult to use EE for some projects.

And what is the status of this Note: “We are not accepting new translation offers because we’re changing the way Language Pack production will be handled.”

Could account for the silence from the author.

Hello giovanni,

Language packs are developed by the developer and then submitted to us. We do not contract, it’s 100% volunteer.

You are welcome to take the included default language pack and start making changes where needed for your self. That’s what other users have done.

The message you quote would not stop the current developers from submitting. Please keep an eye on the blog for future updates and how Language Packs will be made available.
