When I first go to a template I can use tab in the editor, though once I update that template tab stops working and jumps from field to field.
Bug?

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.
Can you tell me what version of ExpressionEngine you are using?
Do you have any Add-Ons installed and/or any custom Control Panel themes?

Version 2.5, no add ons or custom control panel themes. I am on a Mac Lion using Chrome.

Hey Brian_az,
I am unable to reproduce this on my Mac running 10.7.4 using Chrome Version 19.0.1084.52. It may just be something with your current environment. What version of Chrome are you using?
