Quick question— I know EE was not developed for this… and the membership module was NOT created to support this… but I’m wondering if it’s possible for a member to take ownership of multiple accounts an link all those accounts to just one profile. 

So the example would be if someone went out and bought a bunch of shirts that had pre-created accounts in our system that they could take ownership of all those accounts and have them link or merge to just one account.  Logistically I’m not sure if that’s even possible with the most craziest web development.  But maybe I’m wrong.

Wow… You might be able to create something similar with Zoo’s Visitor, Pixel & Tonic’s Playa and Solspace’s User.

Visitor would let you bring Member account management into channels as entries. Playa for multi-relationships and User to assign multiple authors to an entry.

Implementation would be entirely up to you, but those add-ons would give you a foundation to get started.
