Urgent probolem - cant create members, bug ?

    Hi,

    I’m close to going live with a client site and am experiencing a big problem. I have created a ‘content and member admin’ user group in which I have created an account for my client. The problem is that with this account it is not possible to register a new member to the site.

    I have an unlocked group (members) for which they should be able to add members to. What I think might be a bug is that the client user can actually access the register member form however on submit nothing happens and there is no notification of a success/failure.

    Please can you advise how to resolve this ?

    Sorry to bug you but if there’s any chance of getting support today Id really appreciate it. Am based in the UK so obviously this makes it slightly trickier due to the time difference. Am seeing my client to go through CMS tommorow so if you can help me sort this out that would be perfect !

    Im really disapointed that no one from Ellislabs was able to help in time with this enquiry. The help provided on this forum is really really useful, but response times seem unfortunately slow for what is a paid product :( Being in the UK this adds an additional day to the ultimate response time - I actually get a faster response from many free products I use…


    Anyway - nonetheless I have figured this out and I am convinced this is a bug. In order for my clients admin account to be able to add members the following option must be checked :

    ‘Can change the group that a member is assigned to (Unlocked groups only)’

    This is problematic because I do not want the client to be able to change which groups members are assigned to. Im guessing under the hood that perhaps the member gets created in a certain group (maybe the current one) and then EE reassigns them to the default group specified in the options ?

    I’m sorry for your frustration, I really am. We do our best to respond within 48hrs during the US business week.

    If you feel this is a bug, please file a Bug Report, but I think it makes more sense as a Feature Request.

    Definitely a new bug.  This is not how EE used to behave prior to 2.5.

    Can change the group that a member is assigned to (Unlocked groups only)

    The option would be needed because a new registration could be assigned to any available member group.

    If it worked differently under previous versions of ExpressionEngine, that very well may have been the bug.

    If you feel like you have a valid case for different behavior, please file a Bug Report and that can get the discussion started with the Engineers.
