    This is the 5th site I have added to my MSM (2.1.2). The usual code for embedding a template is not working.

    I have tried:

    {embed="siteSITENAME:templategroup/TEMPLATENAME"}

    And I have tried

    {embed="templategroup/TEMPLATENAME"}

    Also the usual codes for linking to CSS in the template group is not working.

    Both these are working fine in the other four sites in MSM.

    Is there a box I did not check somewhere? I feel like I am just missing something simple - or maybe I am just a lttle brain dead.

    Thanks!

    Hello danakm,

    Thank you for asking your question.

    Did you purchase an additional license for MSM?

    Can you tell me what version of ExpressionEngine you are using for this site? Is it the same version as the other sites?

    Please let me know!

    Cheers,

    Yes - it is for my most recent multi site license purchase that I am inquiring. The EE version is 2.40.

    Thanks

    Hello danakm,

    Is this template CSS? What if you spefify the site as a parameter? “site=“site1”“

    What is the result? Does an error get thrown or does the CSS not work?

    When you view the source, do you see anything where the css link should be?

    Please let me know!

    Cheers,

    It is happening for both the CSS and embeded templates that I have done on other sites - like say the footer.

    Using the CSS for example - This code:

    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' media='all' href='{stylesheet={my_template_group}/style}' />

    Generates this code:

    <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' media='all' href='http://moonshell.net/tilghman/index.php?css=tilghman/style' />

    But the CSS is simply not showing:
    http://moonshell.net/tilghman/

    I have double checked that it is not empty in the Template Manager. I even tried a second css with a new name.

    Likewise an embedded template at the bottom should be showing some very basic site links but shows nothing on the live page or in the source output:

    {embed="sitetilghmanwm:tilghman/footer"}

    Thanks

    Hey danakm,

    So just to recap. The same code that works in one site in MSM does not work in the newest.

    Visiting the page, sure enough CSS is not coming through, well it does but it links to an empty file.

    One more thing to check and then I think we may need to login because something is just not quite right. It’s odd that everything else works but the linking for a stylesheet. Everything I can think of as being incorrect would break other things as well.

    The file that you are linking to come up as 1 line with a 0 on it. You double checked everything I would have you double check, but for some reason that file is coming up. I know this is probably obvious, but is the template set to css?

    Please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,

    Yes - I have even tried making a new style sheet and having it look for it (twice). The weird part is that embedding a template does not work either.

    The site will be fairly small so right now I am developing it without embedded files. I can do search and replace if I need to change things globally like the header or footer.

    I can move ahead without fixing this, but I want to be sure nothing is wrong otherwise especially since I will be adding other licenses to this this multi site soon.

    So if you would be willing to log in and take a look around that would be wonderful. Just drop me a line and I will email you the log in.

    Thanks so much for your help.

    For no apparent reason the css is working today…. Embedding templates are still not working though…

    Resolved!! Found the problem - two letters transposed in the name of the template group. I knew it was something really stupid!!!

    Thanks for your help.

    Hey danakm,

    I am glad to hear it! It’s the simplest things sometimes.

    If you need anything else, please just let me know by opening a new thread.
