Hopefully posting in the right area, I am new to EE, have been wanting to dip my toe in for a while, and I think this new project could be a perfect solution.  Since there is no EE demo available to me, I have to ask if what I am thinking is a good match.

I’m doing a job for a construction company.  Part of the site will be a comparison of different siding, roofing, windows, etc.  So, what I am thinking of is entries in EE for each item with all the details.  So, then telling a page to display everything with a certain manufacturer or under a certain category should be easy? Here’s a link to everything in Windows, here’s a link to everything Anderson makes, etc including images for each product.

I hope your initial response is “duh, of course this is perfect”.  But, like I said, actually playing with it myself isn’t an option.  I just have a lot of data I only want to enter once.

If it were my project, I’d probably use categories for product types, and relate specific products to entries in a manufacturers channel - that way you can maintain info on specific manufacturers in one spot, as well.
