This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Hi, I saw the previous post, but I don’t need the multi-select on the front-end, but rather the back-end:

I have a real estate site and a property can be managed by multiple agents. I have a Property channel and an Agent channel…in the Agent channel, the Title field is the Agents name. Then, in the Property channel, I want to add a field that allows the user to select multiple agents related to that property.

The issue is that the Title field is not an option…I have to use only fields that I’ve created, but I need to use the Agents name which is in the Title field.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you 😊
    Dan

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for posting your question!

ExpressionEngine doesn’t support multiple relationships without some help from an add-on. Even if you could use the title field, you would only be able to relate 1 agent to 1 property.

I know that’s a bummer! There are a couple of options to solve this. Pixel & Tonic’s Playa is incredibly flexible. There is also Multi Relationships.

Now, that might not solve the original issue of needing to use the title field. I’m not sure if either of those will allow for that. If not, you would need to add a field just to contain the name of the agent for relational purposes.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Dan 😊

I know in 1.6.8, the Multi Relation add-on (http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/multi-relation) allowed the use of the Title field…just not sure if the Multi Relationship add-on does too.

Playa I’ve heard great things about, but as you said, not sure if it will support Title field in there too…and $75, but that I can pass on to the client.

It would just be a huge pain to have the client have to enter in the agents name in twice just to get the system to work, otherwise what would they put into the Title field?

    You’re welcome Dan :-D

Looking at the screenshots, it looks like Multi Relationships will show the title, and it is drag and drop too I think.

So that might be your ticket!

    Cheers,
