I’m using the Field Display Order field to re-oragnize the field arrangement in my channels but it doesn’t seem to be working.  Not matter what numbers I enter into the Field Display Order channels the fields are always sorted by Field ID.  I know that you can use the Publish Layouts to re-arrange the fields, but I’m wondering why the Field Display Order doesn’t seem to be working?  I’m running EE 2.4.0 Build 20120123.  Thanks.

    Hey jtree,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Are you using any Add-Ons that might be effecting this?

Which part of the Control Panel are you in when you are trying to sort the fields? Comments, entries, etc.

    Please let me know.

    Cheers,

I’m not sure which add-ons would cause an issue.  The addons I’m using on my site are Assets, Wygwam, NSM Addon Updater, NSM Morphine, Last Segment, Matrix, NSM .htaccess generator, PT Field Pack, SafeCracker, WIKI, CE Image, Low Random and TruncHTML.

I’m trying to display the fields in the certain order when creating entries.  So Content -> Publish.

    Hello jtree,

I am unable to reproduce this. When I go to Channel Entry Fields and I edit the display order and swap things around by changing 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 when I go to Content->Publish the change is reflected.

The PT Field Pack and Wygwam are the only two that I see that come into play with the channel entries but the NSM stuff can effect the Control Panel. Since I can not reproduce this and I do not have any Add-Ons, it makes me think that one of those may be causing the funny behavior.

Are all of these Add-Ons up to date?

You can move these aside for testing but I would backup everything first. Removing the Add-Ons may cause data that is associated with them to be lost. Ugh.

Please let me know what you find.

    Cheers,
