I’m looking for way to automate sending users emails from entries that they submit via a safecracker form.

I have a channel called “walks” This has 4 status’s of Closed, New, Pending & Open.
My users are able to submit an entry to me via a safecracker form. This will mark the Entry as “Pending”.

Once I have reviewed it, I then change the status to “New” or “Open”, and it goes on the site.

What I would like is to send the member that submitted the entry an automated email that thanks them for their entry and advises them that it is under review.
Then once I change the status to New or Open, I would like them to receive another email that simply states its been approved and is now available on the site. (With a link to the entry)

Ive had a look at MX Notify Control, and posted this there but had no response.
Is this possible to do with MX Notify Control? It seems like it should be, but I have been unsuccessful in getting it to work. No emails are being sent.

At the moment I am sending them plain text emails from the CP manually, and it would be nice to automate this!

    Thanks

MX Notify Control should do this job. I have used it for one of my sites and it was fairly simple. Using the tag {mbr_email} in the To field will send emails to the author.

Thats what I’ve tried, as well as {author_email} but I just end up with no emails being sent at all.
Everything I’ve tried and not a single email has been sent out. Quite frustrating as it certainly seems like it should!

    Hi shorn,

As you have discovered, that level of notification isn’t available in ExpressionEngine out-of-the box. MX Notify Control is the go-to solution, I’m sorry Max has been unresponsive!

What version of ExpressionEngine and MX NC are you using?

    Cheers,

Yea, Im guessing something must be up, as most support has been slow or non existent lately.
I’ve got EE 2.4 and MX NC 2.2.7.

I’m sure I’m probably doing something wrong, just cannot see what!
Unfortunately the docs on the eec.ms website are no longer there, tags and examples do now show up.
Ive waded through forum posts but still no joy.

    Hey shorn,

How are things? Is there anything else I can do to help?

Would you like this thread moved over to the Community Help Forum?

    Cheers,

Well I’m still trying with this one. Still cannot get a single email sent out. Happy for thread to be moved. I would have like to get some help at the official support forum, but Ive had no response there. I would like to hear from anyone thats managed to get it functioning similar to what I’ve decried I require.
    Thanks!

    Hi Shorn,

    Moved.

Have you tied to get ahold of him on Twitter?

He lists his Twitter username on the site.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shorn,

passing {author_email} into To field should work.

what did you select for Trigger drop down. As you are updating the entry (updating the entry status) so it would be “Entry Update”.

    Best Regards,

This really helped me out, Thanks @Bhashkar… Why would {author_email} work but {mbr_email} like Max documents wouldn’t?
