    Hi EE’s,

I am having the following problem/scenario:

In an onlineshop I want to present “featured” products on the index page. These products already have one or several categories assigned to display them accordingly in the shop. I added the new category “featured” and assigned the products this category via the “Multi Entry Category Editor” (multiselect products in Edit Channel Entries -> add categories -> Submit). No problems here so far!

Now, when I want to remove the category “featured” again I go the same route. When I’m on the “Multi Entry Category Editor” page no categories are selected thus I cannot really remove a checkmark. When I hit “Update” nonetheless I get the error message

    no_categories_selected

Is this a bug or a logic reaction that I just cannot comprehend?

    Thanks and Cheers!

    Hi Marc,

I was able to reproduce this. But I believe that this is expected behavior.

The idea is to check the boxes next to the categories that you want removed.

I can understand how this might be confusing. It’s worth noting in a Feature Request.

    Does this make sense?

    Erm, actually… no. 😊

I’m also having the feeling that this behaviour is somehow intended or a technical based result. I can remember reading something similar in a topic about template restrictions. You know the spot where you can check which Member Groups can access which templates. It had definitely something to do with Multi Select Boxes. I just can’t recall any details and can’t come up with a good explanation for my customer really. Can you give me something I could tell him, like in two sentences?

    Thanks and Cheers!

    Hi Marc,

I hear you. Here is our thinking.

All destructive actions should be implicit and not implied.

If we automatically selected those boxes and the user accidentally submitted it, that would really bad.

    Does that help?

    Cheers,
