Hi, I have newly installed ExpressionEngine version 2.4.0. In Global Template Preferences I set Allow Templates to be Saved as Files? to Yes and in Basepath to Template File Directory I put correct path to the template folder. On the server I set permissions 777 to this template folder. Unfortunately I can’t save templates as files, I got an error “Unable to save your template as a text file”. When I look into the template folder I see a subfolder “default_site” which also has 777permissions but it’s empty .What do I do wrong?

I’m sorry it’s giving you trouble, PipSpratt.

It’s odd that it looks like it created the site folder, but not the template folder.  Can you try something for me real quick?  FTP in- delete the ‘default_site’ folder inside your template folder.  Try to save a template again, with text file save enabled.  (I don’t expect it will work.)

Refresh FTP- did it create the ‘default_site’ folder again?  Is it definitely empty- no folder in there with the template group name?

If no template group name folder, delete the default_site folder again- create it via ftp, permissions 777.  I’m wondering if ownership is playing a part here.  Save template again- check to see if default_site is still empty.
