I’ve got a few throttling questions that I hope I might get some help with. 😊

    1) I’ve seen some sites recommend that throttling should always be enabled to stop denial of service attacks and I am wondering what sort of settings people use in this circumstances to avoid locking out legit visitors?

    2) In instances where a site is experiencing particularly high traffic, what sort of throttling settings would be useful for allowing limited browsing? For example, yesterday I tried allowing 5 pages every 30 seconds with a 10 second lock-out if that was exceeded. But this seemed to result in immediate display of the throttling message for some visitors.

If anyone has any experiencing of using throttling to temporarily minimize site load, I’d love to hear how you’ve been handling it. Obviously, each site is different and I realize it will take some trial and error, but having some starting points would help.
