I’m still a bit giddy after reading this blog post announcing that EE 2.5 would include a built in editor.

Any announcements or updates on the release date?

It should be within the next fortnight, is my guess.

Just like roman numerals, (i.e. Super Bowl XXXIVXVIIIII), I can never remember the definition of ‘fortnight’.  I guess it means ‘Forever + 1 day’.

Yes, I was joshin’ about that (although roman numerals still baffle me), but it does seem like the 2.5 release is getting delayed far beyond even the revised estimates. On March 29th, we were told it is in the “testing/polishing” stage. Even that seems to have been an optimistic assessment.

Seems there are many problems completely unrelated to the EU cookies, based on 2.5 error posts I am seeing:

PHP Error when calling update_site_prefs() from default_content.php
RTE extension hook doesnt include last_call
SafeCracker bug still exists
Install Wizard shows an “Addons class does not exist” error when complete
Textarea Rows being ignored by RTE
Rich Text Editor not appearing

There’s no point in bugging Robin or any other EE rep further about the release date, but it is getting frustrating as May fast approaches.

From where i can get the latest official posts/threads/news about upcoming EE2.5?
I do not get that email from EL even tho i have given my email several times into their newsletter and i have asked about this before why i cant get any mails from there (it is NOT spam issue, that’s a fact i know from my behalf).

I don’t think there is anything official.  From what I can gather, that’s how Ellis wants it, since they do not want to publish a release date. The closest thing to official is this post which is very noncommittal.

Yaa. =). Just feeling that i have been waiting for “ages” 2.5 to come…

I’ve been promising a WYSIWYG editor to my users for a while now… If I knew 2.5 was a ways off, I’d just buy an add-on.  But they keep dangling the promised 2.5 with included/native WYSIWYG so I hold off…
