We have a project that we need some perspectives on. While we have done projects somewhat similar, certain demands of this project necessitate that we think “out of the box”
Objective:
Events are created each month within a department calendar
The department (channel?) creates the monthly calendar
The department (channel?) belongs a certain division
The division (channel?) belongs to a certain location
The location (channel?) belongs to a certain state.
We need to allow the department to create the calendar but in doing so, associate the entry/event with the correct “tier”.
On the front end, when a visitor attempts to see the correct calendar of events, they would select the state, they are only given the capacity to select then from a list of locations within that state, and from within the location, only from the list of divisions, and then from within the division, only those departments, which would then result in viewing the correct calendar.
We believe that utilizing EE with P&T Playa and Solspace Calendar (or matrix) may work (state related to location, location to division, division to department and then entries on the department’s monthly calendar. However, when I then create an event entry in the backend, how can I ensure that the entry is associated with the chain correctly?
Thoughts, ideas, counsel?
