Multiple Site Manager Installation from Local to Remote

So I managed to create a little bit of confusion with how I should go about installing multiple site manager on my server.
    Here’s the scenario:

I have an already existing site built in EE2 on a live server.
I wanted to add another site to this server so I downloaded the multiple site manager (MSM) files.

I wanted to test and install first locally on MAMP. I successfully did this and began creating my 2nd site on my local server.

So now my 2nd site is ready to go live.

I added MSM to the live server already but haven’t created a new site yet. I figured I could just upload my local db and it would work.
I didn’t do this yet because some of the local data in my db from my first site was dated from what was on the live site.
So I need to just upload the data for my 2nd site. I’m not sure what I should do.

I suppose the gist of what I’m trying to do is merge my live site #1 database with only the data from my local site #2 data.

    Hi skodaminotti,

There is no easy answer for this I’m afraid. The data for site 2 is intermingled with the data for site 1, identified with a site_id column. What you want to do is be able to sync the data from your local db to the live db. The only tool I know to do that is Navicat.

If you want, I can move this into Community Help to seek the advice of folks who have done this before.

    Cheers,

If you think moving it will help that’d be great.

I’m probably just going to upload this live and just recreate the newly updated content on site #1.
It won’t take that long to do, just seeing if I could save myself an hour or two.

    Thanks
