Display in new order?

I built the system and added data fields and menu selection elements to several channels. The client wants to have menus and data fields displayed in different orders than they were entered in (I used orderby=“entry_id” on the “exp:channel:entries ” command). There is no field that would put those fields into the order the client wants them in. I suppose I could delete all the fields and enter them again in the order that the client wants them in or to modify the “date”, “edit-date” or “expiration-date” but both are pretty hokey solutions, especially if I am already using those fields.

Is there a way to add a user update-able field that I could use for the orderby= criteria. That way I could change the display order with a minimum of fuss. Especially when the client changes their mind on the sort order again. Thanks

The system is ExpressionEngine v2.4.0 - Build: date 20120123.

You can cancel this question. I finally figured it out. You can use an orderby= on any user defined field. I just created a new field that I jury-rigged to be a sequence number to sort and select by. Thanks
