    Hi Maurus,

Indeed, the open_basedir restriction is entirely up to your host. You can contact them and ask that they allow execution from the path above web-root.

Another option to test is moving your templates out of /system/expressionengine/

If you are saving template-as-files, your template directory can be anywhere you like. It needs to be on the same server, writable and available via file path. You can move your templates back under web-root while keeping system above for security.

Can you try that and let me know the results?

Also, let me know if that raises more questions than it answers!

    Cheers,

I contacted my hosting provider and they did the necessary changes but it’s still not working.

How can i move out the templates folder? are there files I have to update?

    Hi Maurus,

You can move your templates by copying the templates folder from /system/expressionengine/templates/ to whichever location you like. Then in your Control Panel go to Design > Templates > Global Preferences and change the Basepath to Template File Directory to the new destination and you should be good to go.

Let me know how that works for you.

    Hi Sean,

I tried copying the templates folder but it didn’t solve my problem, unfortunately. EE still doesn’t accept username/passwords.

Is there anything else I can try?

    Hi Maurus,

I’m sorry we didn’t ask this sooner, but what version of ExpressionEngine are you using?

I ask, because you may be experiencing this bug. There is a solution marked in the bug report.

I look forward to your reply!

    Hi Maurus,

Did you clear your cache and cookies? I notice that some folks had to do this.

    Hi Maurus,

We have verified that HTTP Authentication will not work with PHP as FastCGI.

You will need to contact your host about how you can workaround this for your site.

    Cheers,
