The non-profit I work for has several organizations and programs that need a wide range of volunteers and full time staff. I’ve been asked to build a site that can be used to help the volunteer and personnel office reach out to our audiences (we primarily publish books, magazines and web content).

I was thinking of something basic, sort of what http://director-ee.com/ is doing. Allow people to submit their information to be considered, as well as the organization to post jobs/needs.

There will be several considerations for each task:
    -time commitment
    -paid/volunteer
-location (i.e. must be in a specific location vs can do from anywhere)
    -skills needed
    -experience needed
    -etc…

There will also be a series of questions to determine some subjective measure
-how well the person aligns with our purpose
-how well the person aligns with our ‘corporate culture’
-their motives for wanting to help (getting paid vs helping the cause)

The system will compare users to tasks and:
-email users when a new opportunity they match well for is posted (or send a weekly digest)
-allow our staff to see a list of the top 5,10, 50… users for each position to follow up with these people

I know I can do most of that with EE queries and the Solspace Tag module. I was thinking of setting up the questions using a range of selections from “agree completely” to “disagree completely” and giving each response a different value so a score can be assigned that is used to evaluate their organizational fit. Then combine that with the skill set, time commitment, and other practical considerations (using Tag) to generate the matches.

Any ideas as I brainstorm this one?
