    Is it possible to display field instructions in a channel entry or do I need a plug-in to do that?

    Hello pmerritt,

    Thank you for posting your question.

    I am not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if there is a way to include instructions for each field when creating a new channel entry in the Control Panel? If that is the question, then yes. When you create the Channel Field there is a Field Summary for each Channel Field.

    I hope this helps. If I am not understanding you correctly, please let me know.

    Is there anything else I can help with?

    Cheers,

    Sorry for being vague…I’m working on a questionnaire and the issue I’m having is that when I’m displaying a safecracker form on a page using

    {exp:safecracker}
    , I’m able to display the field instructions using
    {instructions:abilities}

    , but that doesn’t seem to work when I’m displaying the form as a channel entry using {exp:channel:entries}. The field instructions contain the questions to be answered by the viewer and in the channel entry view I have to manually type the question in so it appears next to the input box. In addition to the safecracker create and edit forms, I want to have a non-editable version of the form with different formatting, hence the channel entry view. It’s not that big a deal to type in the question, but I’d prefer all instances to be the same so I only need to make a change to a question in one place. Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks

    It just occurred to me that I could simply create a third uneditable safecracker form instead of showing the information in a channel entry. I’ll give it a try…

    Hey pmerritt,

    Awesome. I understand now.

    You are on the right path and this is the expected behavior. Nice work.

    Let me know if I can be of any help.

    Cheers,
