    I’ve seen a few threads here on 2.4 and cookie/login issues, but they don’t exactly match my situ. At the 2.4 login screen, addd my credentials and loops back to the login page again.

    I’ve been developing a company website and today I’ve been optimizing. I read somewhere recently that admin logins worked better with cookies instead of cookies and sessions, so I turned it to cookies. Tested it, found no differences and switched it back to cookies and sessions (I remember the confirmation).

    I closed the window for lunch, came back and can’t get in. Tried resetting the password, but with no luck. I dumped the db and reinstalled yesterday’s backup - nothing loves me and it didn’t work either (which points me to the files, but where…?)

    I have full access to the db and the files…what do I have to kick?

    Tried another browser to rule out cookies?

    Also under ‘Admin > Security & Privacy > Cookie Settings’ do you remember changing your Cookie Domain? (If so did you remember to put a leading ‘.’ before the domain name)

    Tried all browsers with no luck.  The Cookie Domain might be it - it’s a development machine and I’ve caught myself getting lost between the two systems. I think the .dot might have me (or it’s looking for the .com domain while residing on the .net domain…)

    I just scanned the config.php and searched the db… not being able to re-enter the cp, how would I clear this?  (already flushed cookies and timed-out the browsers)

    Thankfully there are config overrides for cookies which means when they’re set they will take the value from the override on ignore the database.

    [cookie_domain] =>
    [cookie_path] =>
    [cookie_prefix] =>

    Ah, those first two didn’t exist (silent options I suppose) and adding them got me in…

    Mucho gracias for the help…

    Excellent stuff, glad to help.

    For reference this page lists the config overrides.
    If your working on a dev box and live this may help in the future.
    (for advertising standards reasons we would like to point out that other bootstraps are available)

    HilversumJim,

    Glad to see that Johnnie was able to get you all working. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
