    when i go to http://www.panevino.be/admin.php to get the iupgrade wizard I get a blank page without any error messages!

    I checked config.php and config_bak.php to make sure the path is correct

    How to proceed now??

    Hi Belle,

    I’m sorry you are having some trouble with the upgrade process.

    Make sure you have replaced the old version of index.php with the version included with ExpressionEngine 2.4

    Also make sure that your config.php has been placed in the EE 2 path /system/expressionengine/config/ and not at the top of /system

    Cheers,

    Please let me know if you sort this out.  I went to upgrade tonight and encountered the same.  (Dan I had done as you suggested)

    i unzipped the upgrade file and uploaded it again - both config.php and config-bak.php are under system/expressionengine/config/

    there was a config.php file and a php-bak.php file under the root as well and i removed them

    still a blank page!

    Question - in upgrade process from 1.71 to 2.x how long should the process take before instructions are presented?  Like Belle, I am seeing the same thing.  Just a blank page.  I walked away for 10 minutes (just in case the elves were at work) and still nothing.

    Belle - I just spent the morning cleaning up my site directory and attempting a fresh upgrade.  followed each step to the letter as per instructions.  Same outcome - blank screen at the admin.php screen.  At this point I will not be putting any further effort into this pending comment from ‘support’.

    As mentioned, that is what I did to no avail.  Support has been disappointing in their silence. Please let me know if you make progress.

    I’ve also been having somewhat of a similar issue. For me the blank screen appears once I hit “begin” the page seems to hang on this url:

    /admin.php?C=wizard&M=optionselect&language=english

    There are no errors being thrown. I’m at a complete loss to this. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Interesting. Three of us. I went through process again last night with same outcome.  Where is support on this.?  I guess if this is not resolved I will find out how the 100% guarantee works..

    Hey all,

    Pardon us for the delay. We’re just experiencing a really high support volume right now, and we’re working overtime to try to make sure everyone gets help. We haven’t forgotten about you!

    First, I want to make sure we’re all on the same page here. Is everyone upgrading from EE 1 to EE 2? If so, are you making sure to follow these upgrade instructions to the letter? And you’re all getting a blank screen on step 6 of the instructions while trying to run http://example.com/admin.php, right? Since a blank page in PHP usually indicates PHP errors, and since those are usually suppressed so that your visitors don’t see them, let’s do something to make sure we can see those errors. Open up the admin.php file on your server and change this (line 66):

    $debug = 0;

    to this

    $debug = 1;

    Now try to load the page again. Anything?

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks. I had tried that with no results. I get a blank screen after initiating the install wizard. Here’s a quick screen capture of what I get.

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for that insight. I’d love to get a closer look at this if at all possible. Please be on the lookout for an email from me.
