I’ve read several articles on using a CDN to speed up your website. I recently got an account with Rackspace to start playing around a little.
My question is what files give you the most bang-for-the-buck to host on the CDN? My sites range from a fairly simple site with some occasional blog entries, to sites with more traffic, with an active event calendar and photo gallery. The gallery site uses DevDemon’s Channel Images, which does support offloading to Rackspace. However, in trying not to break the bank, I don’t want to automatically shift all of their albums to the CDN.
I’m working on another site that will be fairly large, with a member’s only area and will serve up a lot of files (PDF, DOC, XLS, etc). There is also audio and some video, but we will host that from a separate media server for now.
Thanks for any suggestions!
