MSM does not copy meta fields to new sites, just creates duplicates fields in source site

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hi,

We’ve got MSM running on an EE install v2.2.2 - Build: date 20110801.

When I copy channel + entries, everything works fine excep for the ‘pages’ channel.

The problem seems to be with three SEO fields that are not part of the channe fields but they somehow appear on the edit entry screen: meta title, meta description and meta keywords

These three fields are not duplicating to new sites, they just end up duplicating in the current site, so site A now has two title fields, two description fields and two keyword fields.  Meanwhile, site B has none.  I’m concerned that as I continue to duplicate site A, I’m just going to end up creating more and more duplicate SEO fields.

My main question is, where are these fields coming from?  They’re only in my ‘pages’ channel yet they’re not specified as channel fields. I’m actually not even using them in my code. I didn’t set up this EE install so I don’t know what add-on may be at work.  Since this is a live site, I’m wary of removing anything.
Can you identify the culprit from the modules in the attached screenshot?

Also, these are the other add-ons

    Accessories:
    Drifter Accessory (1.1.5)
    ExpressionEngine Info

    Extentions:
    Drifter(1.15)
    SafeCracker 2.1

    Fieldtypes:
    Checkboxes
    Date
    File
    Multi Select
    Radio Buttons
    Relationship
    Select Dropdown
    Text input
    Text area

    Plugins
    Allow EE Code 1.4
    Magpie RSS Parser 1.3.5
    Find and Replace Plus 1.4.1
    TeemThumb 1.2
    XML Encode 1.3

    Hi snugghomesoftware,

It sounds like 2 things may be happening here. Those fields sounds like they are part of NSM Better Meta, but you didn’t list that as an add-on. The other thing that stands out is Drifter.

Since Drifter changes EE Core functionality, can you disable that and try again?

I’ll also recommend you update to ExpressionEngine 2.4 and MSM 2.1.2

    Cheers!

Thank you I’ll try that and let you know.

    One question:
If I uninstall Drifter, how destructive is it?  What might I lose as a result of this operation?  I couldn’t find any examples of drifter in action and their documentation is very minimal.
    Thanks

    Hi snugghomesoftware,

Extensions don’t have any data associated with them, so the chances of losing anything is fairly slim. Extensions work by hooking to calls made at certain points in ExpressionEngine execution. They can change how data is out put either in the front of the site or the Control Panel.

Can you verify what version of MSM you have installed here as well?

    Cheers,

Hi sorry for the delay in responding, I didn’t see that you had replied to this.  Disabling Drifter worked!

    Thanks again

    Hi snugghomesoftware,

    Fantastic!

I’m glad that was the solution for you.
