    Hi,

I recentley hae made an attempt to upgrade my ee 1.6.7 installation to 2.4 and faced some problems with charset.
Most cyrillic letters were replaced with question signs. Even in the database (i checked it using phpmyadmin).
Before the moment when I start upgrade process - everything seemed to work ok. I found 2 topics in ee support forums & the solution both times was to send sql dump to elislab employees.

    SQL DUMP:

Is it possible for me now?
If the answer would be negative - what can I do in this situation to resolve
    the issue?

    Hello 24here,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

How is your site at this moment? Is the site down, or did you roll back?

I am going to escalating your request for you. You should be hearing from someone on my team.

    Thank you,

    Shane,
Everything with site is ok - we use some third party addons (which for sure are not responsible for charset problems) so we tried to make an upgrade on localhost. Site is working now. We have backup of a EE 1.x db, which we can share.

If I understand you right, the site is working now?

Is there anything we can help with?

    Hi Shane,

really my site is ok now.

But we are using EE 1.6.7 which is rather outdated.
We have one urgent problem now.
We still are unable to upgrade two sites, because after running update script cyrillic characters are replaced with “?” sign.

When we try to do it on our own - EE’s update script spoils some charactaters right in DB (we checked it throw both phpmyadmin & sqlbuddy - most cyrillic characters are replaced with question sign). In EE 1.6.7 everything is ok.

Please help us to update those two EE installations.
