Hi Guys - am new to EE and currently setting up my Mac dev environment.

Which Mac editor(s) support code completion for EE? I have Dreamweaver but from what I ‘ve read EE code completion isn’t supported.

I’ve downloaded MacRabbit Espresso on trial but am confused as to whether there are reliable add ons (Sugars??) to help with code completion.

Also, I will likely be adding Playa, Matrix, Wygwam, Channel Images, Solspace User and Structure - Any idea if these are supported in any editors?

    Many thanks for you help.

    Hi CCDW,

Welcome to ExpressionEngine and the Forums!

There are a few options in this realm. There are ExpressionEngine syntax modules for most of the major web-centric editors out there. I tend to use Coda, but a lot of the team here love TextMate and Sublime Text 2. All three have options for ExpressionEngine syntax. The only difference is what overall feature set best suits your needs. As far as add-on specific syntaxes, I’m not aware of any, but add-ons generally follow EE’s syntax. I know that Sublime Text 2 offers autocomplete for phrases and patterns you use a lot, which is pretty handy. I would also suggest a expander tool like TextExpander. It allows you to store snippets of text that can be triggered by short strings. For instance, I have “EEE” set to expand to “ExpressionEngine”. Saves a lot of time here on the forums 😉

I’m going to move this into the General Discussion Forum so the broader Community can chime in with their favorites.

    Cheers!
