    Hi there,

I have a blog running EE Core, 1.6.8. It was recently affected by a hack that modified the .htaccess file and inserted base-64 encoded code into a huge number of my .php files, filling my Google results with pharma links. This hack seems now to have been part of a systemic problem at Dreamhost. Naturally I’m completely fed up with Dreamhost, and so would ideally like to install a fresh copy of EE 2 on a new, better, host, and then import the old posts from the EE 1 site. Is this possible, or would I have to upgrade the old install of EE 1 to EE 2 first?

    Thanks!

    Martin

    Hi, Martin -

The database changed a lot between EE 1 and EE 2 so you would either need to upgrade the old installation or export then use something like DataGrab to import your content.

I’d recommend the upgrade option personally, you’ll be replacing the files anyway.

    Does that help?
