This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I’m installing a new version of EE 2.3.1. I’m hosting with doteasy.com for the first time, so perhaps that is related.

After attempting the installation wizard, I get:

    A Database Error Occurred

Unable to select the specified database: woodwebg_westwoodDB

    Filename: controllers/wizard.php

    Line Number: 1518

On a couple of the previous forum posts, I learned about the dbtest.php—After I ran that, I got this:

A connection was established to your database server

    Unable to select your database

    Ideas?

On some web hosts the SQL server isn’t on localhost but somewhere else, this is true for Godaddy and may be so for doteasy too.

Another thing to consider is to make sure the username and password is correct, and said credentials have permission to the database.

    Hi Becki

Red Carrot brings up some good points. Have you checked with your host that the database settings are correct and that localhost is the correct location. Also just in case you missed it we released a newer version of ExpressionEngine today 2.4.0. Since you are starting fresh I would strongly recommend starting with the latest version.

Thank you both—I am currently in the process of uploading EE 2.4.0

I will let you know what happens.

Ok—it turns out my credentials did not have the correct permissions as suggested. Thank you for your help!
