I am starting a pretty large gallery, showcase curating site. There is some specific functionality I will need and am wondering if you have it. My viewers will need to be able to create an account where they will have a profile for commenting, but also where they will be able to create inspiration collections and they can add there favorite posts to different collections, to save for future use. I will also need a separate feature for viewers who are contributors, for them to manage their directory profiles. Site inspire is a good example of what I need.

    Hi amlich,

Welcome to the Forums and thank you for your interest in ExpressionEngine!

I am starting a pretty large gallery, showcase curating site.

Will this be an image gallery site?

My viewers will need to be able to create an account where they will have a profile for commenting, but also where they will be able to create inspiration collections and they can add there favorite posts to different collections, to save for future use.

Under the assumption of an image gallery site, I’ll offer a few recommendations here.
Member management and commenting is built in to ExpressionEngine, so we’re off to a good start! If you want to have some expanded control over profile management, you would want to look into Solspace’s User or Zoo’s Visitor. For the image galleries themselves, Dev Demon’s Channel Images should give you all the flexibility you need. For favoites and ratings, you could use Favorites and Rating.

will also need a separate feature for viewers who are contributors, for them to manage their directory profiles.

This would be covered with User or Visitor as I mentioned above.

I look forward to answering any further questions you may have!

    Thanks!

Thanks, I thought of a few more things.

So each post, is going to need the a robust tagging or category ability.

Id like to be able to tag a post with multiple different things for example…

    Styles
    modern, traditional, contemporary

    Types
mini quilts, throws, queen quilts, king quilts, baby quilts

    Piecework
block, triangles, log cabin, scrap, salvage, appliqué

Anyways there is a lot more than that, but that gives you an example. So id like each post to be sorted by tags and categories. And the viewer can look at all the posts in the modern category, and so forth.

Id also be able to show on a single post, other posts 3-4 like it.

Another ability id like to have is to search for a post by color value. Something along the lines of this http://design-seeds.com/index.php/search

As for the directory, this will be a public list of people. Each profile will have Name, About, Contact, and I need to be able to link up all the posts of their work to their profile page.

Also as for posting. Do you guys have any ways to bring in posts. For example I use ZooTool to organize and curate, and most of my posts will come from there eventually.

Hope Im making sense! Haha Thanks!

This can all be handled with ExpressionEngine Categories. Entries can have multiple categories assigned to them, allowing for great flexibility in how you organize your content.

Each profile will have Name, About, Contact, and I need to be able to link up all the posts of their work to their profile page.

The first part will all be handled by being registered members of your site. Their posts would be tied to them as the author automatically.

Do you guys have any ways to bring in posts.

There are a couple of add-ons out there for importing data. Have a look at DataGrab or Importer. I have used DataGrab and have had great success with that.

    Cheers!
