In a website I’m building, I had to create quite a lot of administrative functions on a front-end interface, as my client finds it more confortable then the built-in back-end. So I’m I have a few pages where I use Safecracker to create/edit/hide channel entries, and I use lightbox to open them in a box above the website, giving my client the impression he never left his website.

The functionality I’m building right now requires me to create system users and alter who owns a channel entry. I’m afraid this can not be done through Safecracker, but I’d like some input on this. Can it be done? Or could you suggest me alternative solutions I could look into?

    Thanks.

    Hi matteobug,

You are correct, SafeCracker can’t be used to create users, however there are some add ons that allow you to customize the creation process outside of the Control Panel. Look into either Solspace’s User or Zoo’s Visitor.

To change the author of an entry via SafeCracker you could use a plugin like AC Member List to build a drop down menu and set the name of that to “author_id”. Set the name of the select to the member name, and the value to the member ID.

    Cheers!
