    This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Long time no communicado, folks.

    Today I had client with a high-traffic site contact us with an urgent message that their site was down. Instead of a homepage, this error was displayed.

    ===================

    Error Number: 145

    Table ‘./***/exp_security_hashes’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired

    INSERT INTO exp_security_hashes (date, ip_address, hash) VALUES(UNIX_TIMESTAMP(), ‘24.234.252.52’, ‘8522a0ed21c35af43f707cd7dfba01ef3552f0f8’)

    Filename: libraries/Functions.php

    Line Number: 1606

    ===================

    We fixed the issue quickly enough, but what causes this error and is there a way to put a mechanism in place to prevent it from happening again?

    Hi Factory Interactive,

    I did some googling and found that Error 145 is often caused by the disk hitting 100% usage - and since you said your client site is high traffic this seems to be a likely cause. If your site is continuing to grow you might want to improve caching and take steps to reduce database queries such as using the disable=”” parameter.

    I noticed that you also have a duplicate thread. It’s best to just post your support request once so that we can keep the discussion all in one place. We do answer all threads by going through the queue in the order that threads are submitted.

    I’m going to close that one out.

    Is there anything else I can help you out with?

    As this post relates to an ExpressionEngine 2 installation, perhaps you should move it there. I’d reposted it in that forum when I realized that the “Related Issue” button automatically put my post in the EE1 Legacy forum.

    Indeed, the site is high traffic, but it isn’t that high volume. I’ll take your suggestions anyway and see if that prevents the issue from recurring, but given the explanation, I’m surprised that this error hasn’t been reported dozens of times before.

    Thanks, Sean.

    Factory,

    Will move this thread back to EE2 - post back if you have more information about the table repair cause.
