    I’m developing a site and this morning when I came into work, the site was working fine.
    I added a basic block of html code:
    <div>
    some content
    </div>

    After saving and uploading to the server, i get the following Error:
    Unable to locate your config file (expressionengine/config/config.php)

    So I reverted the code and it’s still broke, (actually the whole site is).

    After trying various debugging options, the site started working again.

    So starting from how the site was when I came to work, I slowly started adding the HTML code and all seemed fine until, POP, it happened again, the code i added was a basic block of HTML.

    Anybody come across an issue like this before???

    I’m thinking i might be having issues with database connections at the mo?

    Hi Symon Pritchett,

    Where are you adding this black of code? Inside an channel entry or a template? Can you share with us a little more context surrounding the changes you are trying to make?

    After saving and uploading to the server…

    Can you expand on this a little more? Where were you making changes and what were you uploading to the server?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dan

    So this issue stopped happening this morning and I’ve been happily coding away.

    Until it started again, this time it happened without any changes to files, so it pretty much tells me it’s a database connection issue, that and a response on twitter from somebody who thinks the same.

    Hi Dan,

    The only background we can give is that the issue is intermittent and isn’t based on any specific variable.

    The site is hosted at EngineHosting and we’re pretty sure it’s not a memory issue. Some idea of why this message is displayed in the first place would be helpful.

    The only things we’re uploading are template files although the error probably isn’t showing because of this.

    EngineHosting doesn’t see a problem so we’re not sure where to go.

    The site has been in development for 6 months and this is the first time we’ve seen this issue.

    I followed the path of crumbs from the main index file to this point in the code where it is breaking:

    /admin/codeigniter/system/core/CodeIgniter.php

    line: 110

    /*
    *———————————————————————————
    *  Instantiate the hooks class
    *———————————————————————————
    */
    echo “1”;
    $EXT =& load_class(‘Hooks’, ‘core’);
    echo “2”;

    ———————————————————————————

    you can see that only the 1st echo is being written:
    1
    Unable to locate your config file (expressionengine/config/config.php)

    Cannot access the main site or the admin side either.

    Guys, this error is holding up our development as we can’t access the site at all and EngineHosting don’t think the problem is on their side.

    Symon and Steven,

    All apologies for the delay. In an effort to expedite this, I’d like to get a hands on look. Be looking for an email from me.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Dan 😊

    It seems to be resolved now but we can let you know if it occurs again.

    Hi Steven,

    Good to hear that it’s working for you now. Will keep this thread open for you to reply in the future if it should re-occur.

    Did you do anything to fix this Steven? or did it fix it’s self?

    I am having the same problem since a new upgrade (2.5.1).

    It’s hard to work out whats wrong as it only happens now and then and not at one specific section of the admin.

    Any info would be incredibly helpful

    Hi Lachlan Munday,

    All evidence pointed to intermittent database connection issues, and they seemed to have sorted themselves out.

    We didn’t have a hand really in making that happen.

    Have you been in touch with your host provider regarding this issue? Any additional information you can provide?

    Cheers,
