    Hi,

    ExpressionEngine v2.1.3
No third party add-ons, modules, extensions
    Media Temple hosting
    No .htaccess file

We’re experiencing problems editing and publishing new content in Internet Explorer versions 7 through 9. Every other browser seems to be working without any issues.

The “Edit” screen works fine, displaying all of our editable posts. Once we click on an individual post, however, the screen is missing quite a bit of data. “View Source” shows that css, javascript, and lots of HTML is loading but the displayed screen is often the EE blue color with nothing else.

We’ve tried creating a new channel with no custom fields. Then when we try to Publish a new entry in that channel, we see the same blank blue screen with HTML displaying on View Source but not in the Internet Explorer browser.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I’m assuming you are having this problem in the control panel. Have you tried testing with another browser like FireFox, Opera, or Chrome?

    Thank you,

    Mike

That’s right - it’s only the Control Panel’s Edit & Publish screens and only in Internet Explorer 7, 8 & 9. Unfortunately our client is on an older machine and runs IE8. Other browsers work fine.

(MikeMcChillin and I have been trying to troubleshoot this together…ugh)

Mike, I noticed in IE9 we are getting this error:

SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'widget', line 101, character 14

Complaining about some jquery…but, still don’t know what to do.

Also, I did update the site to the latest version and build. Problem persists.

    Hi Mike and bmschaaf,

Are you guys working together on the same site or different sites. I just want to be on the same page with everyone here.

    bmschaaf,
you said you updated to the latest version 2.3.1 correct? Mike what about you?

Are your installs using any third party add-ons or fieldtypes that would be affecting the publish page? Please list them here.

Could you post a couple of screenshots of what you are seeing?

Sorry for the confusion, Sean. Mike and I are working together on the same site.

We went back and uninstalled all of the add-ons.

These are the errors that I am getting in IE. The issue we are seeing is happening in all versions of IE (7, 8 9)

The attached screenshot is what we are seeing. As you can see, it is not much. Basically just the blue (we are using the corporate theme, but you see same problem with the default theme) background.

If I view the source I can see all of the HTML, so there seems to be some sort of CSS issue. Very bizarre.

    What do you think?

    Hi Mike,

I’m not sure what is going on here and would like to take a look at the site myself so be on the look out for an email from me about this.

    Hi Mike,

I checked the login support queue and didn’t see any info from you there. Did you receive my email?

    Hi Mike and Ben,

I don’t see your login information in our system either, but let me get you to try this first: if you still have the download package for the same version EE that your site is running, open that up and upload the entire theme folder to your web server. If you don’t, feel free to download the latest version EE (which is 2.4 as of today), and upgrade your site to the latest version. This looks to me like the culprit may well be a mismatch of files running the site, so before we move forward, we want to make sure all the files running EE came together in the same package.

My client is experiencing the same empty blue screen on publish/edit as described above, in IE8. I’m on Mac so can’t replicate and all working fine for me in Chrome, FF and Safari. Any known MSIE issues? Any suggestions?

    Site is running 2.3.1, add-ons include…
    Solspace Calendar
    Freeform
    Low Variables
    Wygwam
    Matrix
    Playa

    Hello Ian,

I am unable to replicate as well, I am on a Mac.

Can you have your client view the source on the blank page to see if anything comes through?

You might try enabling debugging to see if anything outputs on that page.

To turn debugging on please go to your Control Panel and navigate to Admin->System Administration-> Output and Debugging. Please set the last two settings, which are “Display Output Profiler?” and “Display Template Debugging?”, to yes.

I checked to see if there has been any progress on the case offline, but I do not believe we have received anything from the original poster yet.

Let me know what you find.

    Cheers,
