    Hello!

One of my clients is wanting some serious SEO for the site I’m going to build for him (in Expression Engine of course). We’re located in Maryland, and it might be best to find someone local. I’ve gotten a book on SEO, but there’s no time for me to get up to speed for this job realistically. I’m wondering:

    1) Is there an SEO package for Expression Engine I can look into

    2) Are there any recommended SEO firms (preferably on the East Coast, Maryland would be great)

    3) Any books I can read that go pretty in-depth with Search Engine Optimization?

    Thanks!

    Tom

You can use standard SEO practices since the development platform is good.

    On Page Tactics

    Meta tag analysis
    Dead link check
    Validation
    Navigation analysis
    Site taxonomy
    File name changes
    Content modification

I wrote an article about managing meta tags with SEO Lite, that includes some template code that could be helpful for you, insofar as that aspect of it goes; that’s only one small piece of SEO though, obviously.

IMHO, 90% of SEO is common sense and honesty.

That is, if you actually have relevant content and relevant links, page titles, etc. you are likely to get good results from Google.

Google webmaster tools will tell you a lot about your SEO. They will show duplicate page titles and stuff like that.

Also, the speed of your server (site) is of UTMOST importance in terms of google SEO. Big time.

Most folks woud be better off concentrating on the basics as opposed to the voodoo SEO, of which an entire industry has been created around. IMHO, of course!

Hi, here is one of the most comprehensive sites that explains SEO and is always updated as well. I suggest you look for resources online because SEO is a fast-paced field - in a sense that anything can change in a few days or weeks. Consequently strategies of SEO specialists also shift every now and then. It’s a normal trend. Good luck!:)

As long as your content is on point which I’m sure it is, it all comes down to backlinks if you are trying to rank for keywords. Have you decided what keywords you want to rank for? You need an attack plan. A high page rank will give you authority in the rankings.

Backlinks to your website from high ranking websites is important for you reputation in Google’s eyes. A backlink on a page rank 9 is like taking Kim Kardashian home. A backlink on a page rank 1 is like taking Paula Dean home. lol. Best of luck.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence. Providing it to your client will help you to bring your business in a good way..

Now a days I am thinking that a trustworthy SEO firm might be the way to go. I have done my own seo for years but with panda and penguin updates it has made the playing field way different. I personally only use white hat seo but it is very easy to draw spammy looking links. My advice is just be very careful and remember you usually get what you pay for.

Well now a days, there is lots of online tutorials through which we can get the knowledge about SEO. Basically in SEO there is 2 categories i.e On page and Off page.
In on page we do work in site front end and in off page we do work in backend of site but after latest Google updates and algorithm seo becomes tough. 😛
