    Hi Media Pubblicita,

Welcome to ExpressionEngine and the Forums!
I’m sorry you ran into trouble right at the start, but I am going to do everything I can to get you up and running!

Is this a brand new installation? Did you make sure to set the permissions on the *file* config.php and not the *folder* config? To be clear, the permissions need to be set to 666 on the file at /system/expressionengine/config/config.php

Yes the config.php file is blank until EE is installed.

What type of server environment are you installing on, Windows or Linux?

Is this a local MAMMP/XAMMP/WAMMP install or a hosted environment?

Can you give our Server Wizard a run first please?

I’m having a similar problem installing EE2. I have my folder/file permissions set right, but still getting this error:

    The following error occurred:

Your config.php file does not appear to have the proper file permissions. Please set the file permissions to 666 (or the equivalent write permissions for your server) on the following file: expressionengine/config/config.php

This is what the EE Wizard said:

PHP Version 5.1.6 or greater required Yes
MySQL (Version 4.1+) support in PHP required Yes
    URL Segment Support suggested No
CAPTCHAs feature and watermarking in Image Gallery suggested Yes
Ability to send Pings suggested Yes
Image Thumbnailing using GD, GD2, Imagemagick or NetPBM suggested Yes
GIF Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2)  optional Yes
JPEG Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2)  optional Yes
PNG Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2)  optional Yes
    Built in Spellchecker optional Yes

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi glcreative,

As you are on a Windows server you are sometimes only limited to setting permissions in folders I believe. Please contact your host to have them set the permission for the config.php file and you should be good
