Really - EE forums are so behind every single forum platform out there and i WANT to keep my with EE. But this is getting more and more insane because EE Forums havent gone any further since i firstly bought it in 2007. Its still the same with no possibility to even use EE tags within it.

Sorry, i dont mean any harm by this but If EE forum want to live and get success it has to grow for better forum as a module and a part of product family.

Still seeking that module/add-on btw 😊

You should read the long conversations about this elsewhere on the board (do some searches)....

    Especially this one:

In short, don’t expect anything much different than what you have now. Folks should use software for what it does now….as opposed to wishing or assuming that things are going to change radically (IMHO).

Well i have read several threads with no real answers - just “abouts”. And yes, seems that module is targetted to themselfs, not for global users, if i read right. Sad thing :/

Well, it might be sad for you and I, but EL is making business decisions based on their resources and vision.

It would take a LOT of resources - in this case years of 1 or 2 programmers full time - to make the Forum into the be-all, end-all of forum SW. As it stands, it is very respectable as a module and add-on.

Heck, I’ve used it for 8+ years (pmachine first) and gone from 10 users to 20,000…and to one million posts! That’s a good run. Yeah, if I had my druthers, I’d use it for another 10 years….but, as they say, there is an arse for every seat! We should use it based on what it does now.

My only beef about the whole deal was the lack of communication about it - and, in fact, the promises made and not kept. But EL has had a lot of things to do over the last couple of years…..so what is, is.

Anyway, hopefully we’ll be pleasantly surprised at the upgrade…it could happen (I’m an optimist, especially close to new years).

    Happy New Year.
