Anyone knows if Forum wil develop in new versions or that is that? I am asking because I am not happy with forum and I am thinking to convert it to phpbb or some other solution.
Forum as itself is great, but templateing is awful, I was thinking about scaffold theme but that is a lot of money and still I am not sure if I could do it right.
Phpbb is ok forum and it has a lot of plugins.

So ... if Forum will not develop onto new version, maybe someone knows some converter to some normal forum?

Crnaovca - the Forum module is still in development but it isn’t really intended to be like a “full” forum such as phpBB. If you need all the bells and whistles then phpBB will probably work better for you.

Forgot to say there is an addon that allows you to use vBulleting forums with your EE members - http://www.eevolution.co.uk/products/vbee

Thank you. This addon looks interesting. That was something I was looking for. Will try it.

Besides VBEE, there is another path you can take to VB by importing your full board into it. This involves having someone with a bit of experience with their importer (called IMPEX) which has an EE import mode.

You can then, if desired, import your forum into other sw from VBB….example, Xenforo.

The downside, compared to the add-on VBEE, is that passwords are not transfered, so your users have to use the “forgot password” link in order to set a new password.

Hope that helps…..note - the IMPEX importer is for EE version 1.x (and associated forums)....although it stands to reason that someone who really knows what they are doing could import the EE 2 forum data. As always, test test test before you do such a move.

As I see it, Ellis lab should do something, some bridge between EE and some forum solution. To me personally, EE Forum is really ok thing, it serves it’s purpose for 70-75% of users. What is main reason to discard it is redesigning that forum. It costs me too much $ to redesign it, even after paying for it because no coder I found is willing to do implementation of that template from PSD to forum for some reasonable sum of money. It is cheaper to me to try to use something different where templateing is easier. Only that. What gives me a good idea for a feature request :D I/ll go and write it.
